Right after your infusion
- Keep the small bandage on for 30 to 60 minutes and keep the IV site clean and dry for the rest of the day.
- Drink water and eat normally unless your clinician gave you different instructions.
- Follow your clinic's activity and driving instructions. If you feel dizzy or unwell, sit or lie down and contact the clinic.
What you may notice
- Mild tenderness or a small bruise at the IV site can happen and should gradually improve.
- Your reaction depends on what was administered. Use the product-specific instructions from your clinician as the source of truth.
Aftercare
- Keep up your water intake and eat normally.
- If the IV site becomes red, warm, or swollen rather than just lightly bruised, call the clinic.
- Ask your clinician whether any follow-up is appropriate. This guide does not recommend a recurring treatment schedule.
When to call your provider or 911
- •Spreading redness, warmth, or swelling at the IV site
- •Fever or chills after your infusion
- •Chest pain, trouble breathing, or a severe headache
